Ontario horse photography, Burlington stables.

I’m super excited to share my first official horse photography session! This was a fantastic learning experience, and I am so thankful to this family for taking a chance on me to photograph such a wonderful equine-human partnership in an absolutely stunning location.

Tucson is a handsome and well-mannered 11-year-old Appaloosa. Prior to this session, I would have said he was warm brown and white coloured, but I have since learned that in proper horse terms he is light chestnut with a white blanket.

The location was the gorgeous, family-run Reindance Equestrian Centre in Halton Hills. It was a humid evening, but the light was just fantastic. And I couldn’t have asked for more scenic stone stables, rolling hills and golden fields.

Horses don’t sit for a treat or appreciate funny noises like dogs do, and handling Tucson required an assistant, so this was a fantastic learning experience. Just being around a horse, and knowing how to approach Tucson and what angles look best was an invaluable experience, and having such an enthusiastic client (this session even had an outfit change!) was pretty awesome.

This Burlington horse photography session was actually a gift from Kim’s mother, who had open-heart surgery early in the summer. It was a way for her to say thank you for the wonderful care Kim provided during her recovery.

I had such a fantastic time with Tucson and his family …. I hope more horse photography sessions are in my future!
