haggis | Mississauga puppy photography
I was so excited to meet basset hound Haggis for our Mississauga puppy photography session earlier this summer — he’s only three months old, and is all ears and paws. He’s also the first basset hound I’ve photographed, so did I ever luck out! His new family wanted to capture all his wrinkly, smooshy, puppy goodness – we all know how fast they grow up and change. There are about a thousand reasons why you would want photographs of this face. Seriously. Just look at this face.
That hang-dog look just melts your heart – I was smitten the minute I arrived and saw him looking up at me through the screen door. Haggis the waggith (for when he is happy … aka less droopy) or Haggis the saggith (when he is very droopy) loved exploring the neighbouring park, doing his best to manoeuver his short legs through the long grass and not trip over his ears. Basset hound problems ya’ll (sorry, I’ve been watching Fixer Upper on HGTV and I’m loving the southern accents).
Poor Haggis has been dealing with a recurring eye infection since coming home with his new family – he’s been to see a veterinary opthalmologist and is on medication to help clear it up. He also has very low-hanging upper eyelids (we’re talking low even by basset hound standards), which sometimes makes it hard for him to see. The hope is once he grows into his skin, it will all work itself out, but I had to think about my angles to make sure I captured him as “wide-eyed” as possible.
What a treat to meet this guy and spend an afternoon enjoying all his puppy goodness. This family has a really special new addition to enjoy and snuggle with – it was so fun meeting you Haggis!
Wags,
