Kitchener dog photography | Chase
This is such a fun session to share – there’s nothing like the sweetness, energy and antics of a new puppy! For this Kitchener dog photography session, I met Chase, a black lab puppy, and his family at their beautiful new home in southern Ontario. The light, the home design and decor, the adorable pup … I just wanted to move right in!
Kitchener dog photography | Chase the black lab puppy
Like most pups, Chase has two modes: on or off. He had just woken up from a nap when I arrived, so while he was still a little sleepy and could stay still for more than a second, I photographed him indoors. Even if pets aren’t allowed on the furniture, I always ask to break the rules because it’s so nice to see them comfy and lounging in their own home. Chase already has couch privileges … I mean, how could you say no to this face?
Then the puppy mischief started to kick in …
So, we took our session outside. Chase’s house backs onto a natural area with a walking path, so we didn’t have to go far to find some nature. He’s so itty bitty and cute! Puppies grow SO fast, so if you want to document their early days, don’t wait too long!
Chase is this family’s first dog and the kids were so great with him. Your first dog is always so special – they’ll always remember this time in their lives. It’s always such an honour to be welcomed into people’s homes and lives to capture memories like this!
On blogging and advice
On a side note, once upon a time, I used to be a good blogger … now I am so far behind! I feel like part of the reason I’m not as motivated to blog regularly is because I have a full-time office job, and the idea of coming home and again sitting in front of a computer to write isn’t super appealing (editing client images is more fun). But with Facebook and Instagram showing posts to fewer and fewer people, I know I have to start publishing blog posts more regularly. If any of you work full time and run a part-time business, I’d love to hear how to juggle everything and stay motivated!
