Chloe turns 10 | Burlington senior dog photography
I can’t believe Chloe is 10! The crazy thing is, she hasn’t really slowed down – upon meeting her, most people are surprised at her age (could be because she acts like a total fool when meeting new people!). Each year I take Chloe out for a little birthday photo session — I’m not sure she really enjoys it, but she does humour me by stopping and looking at the camera a few times. You can read about when she turned nine, and when she turned eight.
Here are a few things about Chloe that might surprise you:
• She’s not really social with other dogs. She’s friendly, but it’s the people on the other end of the leash she’s most excited about meeting.
• She has insane luck when it comes to finding tennis balls. I don’t know if she can smell them or sense them, but she will suddenly run off into a field of tall grass and come back with a ball in her mouth. Currently we have 14 balls in our backyard (all found or pilfered) and I swear she does a daily round and notes each one to make sure they are all accounted for.
• She won’t look at you when you pet her. I’m not sure why. Probably because it’s just an expected human responsibility.
• She poops … a lot. I’ve mentioned this before, but the volume never ceases to surprise us. Three bags are mandatory on walks.
• She loves cheese. She can hear a cheese wrapper opening from outside. We only recently discovered she likes watermelon after six years together (you’d think I’d know my own dog …!).
I feel like double-digits make it kind of official: our birthday sessions are now also Burlington senior dog photography sessions! She has her quirks and bad habits, but gosh we love our dog! I hope we share many more swims in the lake and games of fetch at the park, and that she breaks many more vacuum cleaners (I should just invest in a vacuum company).
We love you Chloe!
